THE IMPORTANCE
OF INFORMATION
The necessity of information cannot be
over emphasized. Information leads to transformation-as the lack of it leads to
deformation. Good information is spread abroad as the air we breathe! Hence,
success should be an everyday thing.
Reasons for the
under-utilization of information in comparison to it’s abundance
If
knowledge is this abundant, how is it that the level of illiteracy, mass
failure and nonachievement seems to be on the increase? This can only be explained by the following
reasons which are as follows:
1.
Irresponsibility.
2.
Ignorance and unwillingness to learn.
3.
Lack of a functional mind that is creative.
4.
A limited view of life and success.
5.
Abiding by social norms and values that are not progressive and futuristic.
6.
Lack of a reading culture and a good listening ability.
Having
stated this, how then can this menace be best tackled if at all eradicated. We
can only give the following points as pointers to the effective utilization of
information and its benefits.
How best to
utilize information and the benefits attendant in the utilization of information?
It
is well known that one’s ignorance of the purpose of a thing( structure, word,
place or material) leads to its abuse, and in most cases the destruction and
under-utilization of that particular entity.
Steps to the
utilization of Information;
1.
A desire to know: Before information can be utilized, it must be known to the
informant first! Only then can it be utilized.
2.
Be taught: If one must understand, and utilize information he\she must be
willing to learn-because, without a teacher one only stands a chance of abusing
information or be misguided.
3.
Cultivate a reading habit: A saying goes like this “READERS ARE LEADERS”. This
saying goes unchallenged as the world’s sway is well dictated and controlled by
those who have read, and are still reading, and still lives to read.
4.
Have your own definition of success: Now, having in one’s possession
information which is the tool for success, one must clearly define success in
his or her terms, this will eliminate the risk of unaccomplishment and
frustration in life. This is because the modern day society gives success out
to be materialistic, ambitious, influential and possessive. Many have died, and
many more are victims of depression, frustration and all kinds of emotional and
psychological traumas as a result of pursuing the societal definition of
success.
5.
Develop a creative mindset: Haven gotten information and a definition for
success, one must possess a creative mind in the place of planning and
strategizing. This is necessary if success must be achieved. Because one must
be able to process data into information, information into skills, skills into
action, action into innovations, innovations into a solution, a solution into
world changing contribution, a world
changing contribution makes success.
6.
Combing information, skill, and a creative mind into success: Having obtained
the necessary tool to become a success, one must without fail combine it all
with the help of honesty, determination, focus and a sacrificial life style to
reach the peak of any career or success as it regards to any individual.
